What are Cougar Dollars?

Cougar Dollars are cash values included in all meal plans. They work like a prepaid debit card with funds kept on your Meal Card. Cougar Dollars may be used at any on-campus dining location:World of Wings, SubVersions, Wholly Habaneros, Panda Express, The Market at the Union, Jamba Juice at the Market, Jazzman's Cafe & Bakery, and CSUSM Starbucks. 

Do Cougar Dollars carry over from year to year?

Yes, Cougar Dollars carry over from year to year and do not expire. 

Can I change my meal plan if it does not fit my needs?

Yes! Changing to a larger plan is possible at any time during the semester. All other changes must be requested by contacting the General Manager Manuel Lorenzo.

If I live off-campus, where may I buy my meal plan?

If you live off-campus, you may purchase your meal plan by visiting our student cashiers in the University Student Union at "The Market in the Union."

Can I load any amount on to my meal plan (food pass)?

Yes! You may load any amount onto your meal card. We do offer wonderful incentives of free Starbucks coffees all the way to $100 additional Cougar Dollars free if you load unique amounts.

How does a Meal Card work?

Your food pass works similar to a pre-paid debit card, each transaction is deducted dollar for dollar. For instance, if you order a tall vanilla latte at Starbucks for $3.75 and have $50 on your food pass, you will then have a balance of $46.25. 

What are Cougar Dollars?

Cougar Dollars are loaded onto your Food Pass and may be used at any of our eight CSUSM restaurants

Important Info

Selection of a Campus Dining Services Meal Plan entitles you to a Food Pass, which allows you purchasing power equivalent to the amount you have loaded. Any amount loaded will be treated as a dollar to dollar declining balance; similar to a gift card. If you purchase a latte or salad, the exact dollar amount will be deducted from your Food Pass Balance.

Lost or Stolen Meal Cards

Lost or stolen Meal Cards cannot be replaced and may only be used by you.  Should this happen to you, please contact our General Manager Jason Nussbaum, to report your Food Pass stolen.

Dining Policies

One of our main goals is to provide a pleasant, clean, comfortable and satisfying dining experience. In order to meet this goal, we ask for your assistance with the following procedures:

  • Please bus your dishes and disposables from your table when you have finished dining
  • Remember that meal cards are non-transferable.  Meal cards cannot be used by anyone but the purchaser.
